I was born on May 25, 1955, in Talladega, Alabama, but I actually grew up in Elkton, Maryland, known then as the place to go for quickie marriages. My mother loved to write, so I always figured I took after her.
I wrote many stories growing up, usually accompanied with crayon pictures. The first story I had published was in college, and from then on I was hooked on writing. It's what I wanted to do, but I didn't think of it as work. So along the way, I have done many other jobs, including waitressi, teaching aerobics, editing, even reading for a blind lawyer. My path to writing has been crooked, but I learned a lot along the way.
Finally, I decided to write stories. Somebody has to write them, and I love doing it. Stories help us figure out ourselves and the world we live in.
